Cam Smith aka cinch was born in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada and now resides in Vancouver. He is a musician, a juggler, and a dishwasher. These interests have one thing in common; order. Cam’s ability to arrange sounds, ideas, and objects in a deliberate and concise way is his strong point. He sees the notes of a scale, the same way as balls on the ground or, dishes in a bus bin. They are each on its own, a challenge to undertake and complete. This accomplishment is the driving force for Cam’s creativity.
Cam is grateful to live in Canada and more so, he is grateful to be in Vancouver, where the electronic music scene on the whole is so dismal that he is free to create techno without much external influence on his style or voice. This sheltered life has allowed him to hone in his tastes of which include the gamut of minimal to maximal sounds. He is most often found with the Danksoul Recordings family laughing, loving, and sipping on fine Canadian ales. Two of said family are involved in ongoing side projects with cinch: cinch+bron=floorboard and cinch+litewait=inkwell.
