Everybody wants to be naked and famous
from the mind of cinch on 5 June 2007
Last week was an eventful one for me. I received a call while I was at work from a cousin I haven’t seen in about 2 years. We spent two wonderful afternoons together in the Vancouver heat catching up on family affairs. Usually, I see my family only on holiday’s and even then I’ll visit with my aunt, uncle, and 2 cousins who live in Burnaby. I’m fairly out of touch with the rest of my family since I moved westward. I’m dealing with it for now, but the separation is starting to occasionally get to me. My Vancouver life is like a bizarro world where I’ve been plopped onto another planet and my former life and friends only exist through interspace communication (email and phone.) Initially, I came to Vancouver to search for like-minded musicians who share the same ambition of making beautiful sounds. So far my mission has been accomplished and I’m well on my way to writing music for a living (at least part-time.) But I still feel a bit out of touch. ho-hum.

I bought this off of the stellar craigslist

The firepod is going to be my first step towards an analogue studio. Actually, to be accurate, I’m stepping towards a more tactile studio. I long for my youth when I would hole myself up in my basement surrounded by guitars, drums, synth modules, amps, reverb units, mixers, and microphones. This place was where the music was instantaneous due to the nature of the equipment. Nothing was off limits. Clipping, overload, noise, hiss, crackle, spillage, bleed, and hum were considered “happy mistakes” that only added to the energy I was entrapping to the tape. It’s totally nostalgic and for that reason I will never get the exact feeling back. Though, I can sure as hell try.
I’ve also secured a $1.50 raise at work with the help of my cousin Annie. I had been meaning to ask for more money, but kept chickening out at the last minute. The presence and advice of my cousin helped push me to sit my boss down and lay the cards on the table. Surprise!! (not really) It worked. Yipppppeeeee!
In other news Danksoul has begun its first foray into the lucrative world of dirty south crunk music. We are incredibly inspired by the extreme vocal talent of a certain T-Pain and had to try our hand at this revolutionary music.

I mean come on. You can obviously see this man is a multi-talented genius who’s music will change the face of crunk in new and exciting ways.
Forget Stockhausen, Eno, Cage, Reich, and Budd. T-Pain surpasses all of them.
Ok. If you didn’t get the sarcasm there, I’m afraid there’s no other way I can lay it on any thicker. In other words, T-Pain is an abomination. I mean, he could fart into the mic, send it through the Antares auto-tune and have his next 6 hits practically written. What a fucking joke. If you haven’t heard any of his tracks, I envy you. Keep your ear guards up.
Seriously though, we’ve written a ridiculously crunked out beat. MC’s C-Sizzle and tha Rapscalion are currently dueling it out for vocal supremacy and the rights to throw down on the phattest club banger evar. I’ll post a preview of the track in the coming week.
Keep it locked.

We at Danksoul are gearing up for our first few vinyl releases, we’d like to celebrate this and start the new year with a label showcase of all our talent and some facetime with that lovable scoundrel Hrdvsion before he heads back to europe. By the way… he just got back from a European tour that included playing Fabric, Watergate and the Arches….. Its fucking party time.
