Monday is now known as "Cinchday"

Ok, so from now on cinch is going to be doing a weekly blog post every MONDAY. Ewww, the pressure to be smart and interesting is slowly mounting as I type these words. Well, just hold on tight, this might be a bumpy ride…

I frequent a few choice websites practically everyday, my thirst for knowledge/news seems to be unquenchable. Here are my favs in no particular order:

Mmmm yeah, hot.

Recently I’ve been more and more interested in creating electronic instruments regular folks can pick up and enjoy with little or no instruction. I’ve always felt that songwriting and sound design should be accessible to all people regardless of their previous experience with audio. Anyone can hit a drum and enjoy its sound, so I figure anyone can make friends with a midi controller and connect with the tactile interface. My Novation Zero SL is wonderful for this. I can set it up to trigger samples on the drum pads and modify those samples with the pots. It’s a very simple instrument and one can hear the effects of a control change instantly, solidifying it’s usefulness at that moment.

Once I figure out how to do live video screen captures I might start including a video podcast showing you some of my ideas about sound.
